Tralonne Shorter
Public Policy Director
Tralonne is a passionate social justice advocate, with over a decade of experience working on a wide range of interrelated policy issues including gun safety, health care, education, and housing. In addition, she has extensive experience navigating the federal appropriations process as both a Congressional staffer and a lobbyist. Tralonne began her career working as a Congressional aide to former U.S. Representative Louis Stokes (D-OH). She later worked for U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) in both his Washington, DC and New Jersey offices, becoming a top Senior Adviser. Tralonne has also gained experience in state politics where she served as the Chief of Staff to the late State Senator Glenn D. Cunningham (D-Jersey City, NJ) and his widow State Senator Sandra Cunningham. As a lobbyist at Peyser Associates, Tralonne represented the appropriations needs of public and private sector clients before Congress and the Administration. As an advocacy consultant, she has worked with membership organizations and has organized lobby days as well as developed a grassroots advocacy infrastructure. Tralonne is a native of New Jersey and a graduate of Howard University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
