Domestic violence affects women and children in every community – large and small, urban and rural – and it continues to be the most underreported crime in America. That’s why NNEDV works proactively on Capitol Hill to make domestic violence a national priority.

NNEDV’s members are state coalitions representing domestic violence shelters and programs in every state in the nation. We work closely with these state coalitions to understand the ongoing and emerging needs at the local and state level, and then we make sure those needs are heard and understood by policymakers at the national level.

Our priorities for the 110th Congress include:

• Fighting for full funding of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 2005
• Protecting funding for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)
• Reauthorizing the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act
• Preserving emergency and long-term housing options for victims of domestic violence
