Education & Job Training Assistance Fund

Sponsored by The Allstate Foundationallstateforweb

The Allstate Foundation is proud to be working with The National Network to End Domestic Violence, Inc. (NNEDV) to provide short-term financial resources to survivors through the Allstate Foundation Education and Job Training Assistance Fund.  In the last three years, this fund has provided over a million dollars to help survivors achieve their educational and employment goals to build their financial independence.

Beginning in 2010, the fund will be adopting new guidelines for distribution of resources to survivors.  The Allstate Foundation Education and Job Training Fund will continue to provide much needed resources to survivors to ensure success in educational and employment endeavors.  However, in an effort to better meet the needs of survivors and process grants more quickly, Education and Job Training Fund grants will be offered in three funding cycles--in March, July and November 2010.  For each cycle, a minimum of $100,000 will be available on a first come, first serve basis to eligible grantees working with a domestic violence advocate.

Once all available funding is distributed in a given cycle, the Education and Job Training Fund will be closed until the next cycle.  Funding will remain available for expenses related to education and employment including: tuition and fees for educational classes at the high school, community college and undergraduate levels, certifications, books and supplies, child care, transportation, other support services and employment uniforms and supplies.  Additionally, all applicants will receive a link to a private web page where they may access The Allstate Foundation’s Moving Ahead Through Money Management curriculum.  This important resource will further assist survivors in achieving their educational and vocational goals.

Because requests for funding typically increase in the fall, The Allstate Foundation will make every effort to increase funding during this time of the year to meet the needs of survivors.   The Allstate Foundation and NNEDV are committed to developing creative ways to increase funding available through the Education and Job Training Fund.  Survivors deserve opportunities to open new financial doors through education and employment.

The Fund is currently closed to applications.  In the coming months, state domestic violence coalitions, local programs and the general public will receive more information about the change in name and transition to a cyclical approach to grant-making through the Education and Job Training Fund.  A request for proposals for the first cycle will be distributed in February 2010.
