Communications Director—Washington, DC

National Network to End Domestic Violence

Description

Full-time position responsible for communications and fundraising activities with an emphasis on communications. Responsibilities include: implement an annual communications plan; develop and distribute public awareness materials; provide technical assistance to state domestic violence coalitions on media relations and public awareness; produce and distribute media responses to current events; organize press conferences and strategic media events; maintain and update media database; develop and cultivate media contacts; monitor brand consistency and integrity; serve as liaison for media inquiries; participate in national domestic violence communications and public relations committees; oversee the production of fundraising materials; assist with corporate and foundation partners relationship-building; manage development calendar; assist with event planning and coordination; and other communication and development activities as required. Must be able to travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism/communications; previous experience in written communications, publications, and copy editing; demonstrated skills in public relations; extensive knowledge of the news industry; experience with nonprofit fundraising (events, corporate sponsorships and working with funders); proficiency in using Adobe Creative software; strong written and verbal communication skills; highly organized with ability to work flexibly, independently and as an effective team member.
